(Read Romans 5:12-21)
In Romans 5, Paul discusses how by one man sin enter the world and how through another man came eternal life. Behind those men were women. One was a wife, the other a mother. Both women made their own choices.
When Eve was tempted in the garden, she thought only of herself. The forbidden fruit looked so delicious. Surely God wouldn’t punish her-not for one little bite. Dismissing the consequences, Eve bit into the lush fruit.
Eve’s sin wasn’t complete until she shared the fruit with Adam. From the moment Adam bit into the fruit, their inner selves was strained. Eve remembered her selfishness with each child she bore. As she watched her children quarrel, get angry and turn their backs on God, she felt responsible.
Centuries later, an angel appeared to a virgin, asking her to put her reputation, her future, on the line for God. Mary knew she could be shamed, put away or even stoned if she bore a child out of wedlock. But Mary wasn’t thinking of herself. Dismissing the consequences, Mary paved the way for God to bridge the gap Eve had helped build.
Neither Eve nor Mary had an easy life. Eve grieved when one son murdered another. Mary sorrowed as her firstborn hung on the cross. In thinking only of herself, Eve helped condemn the world and lived a life of defeat. But in forgetting herself, Mary discovered victory and brought new promise to generations to come. -Mari Serebrov-

Lord, we pray for the wisdom, the courage and the piety to choose our ways and our will. Thank You for the model we have in Mary, a woman of devotion and selflessness. Amen!! Amen!!
Set a Good example…
” Do as I say, not as I do”- What a foolish point of view! To make a point to those you teach, You must practice what you preach…Set good examples day by day, And then sincerely you can say-“Do as I say and as I do” To everyone who follows you! -Alice Joyce Davidson-
A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favor rather than silver and gold. Proverbs 22:1
